Brandon + Kaitlyn held their Southern Highlands Golf Club wedding on a gorgeous Spring day with a clear blue sky. Not only was it an elegant multi-faith affair – it was also one of the most amazing military weddings I’ve had the honor of photographing. The two went to Army training together and were introduced by a mutual friend. They are now both finance officers in the Army. Kaitlyn comes from a true military family – her grandfather, dad and several of her siblings also served in the armed forces – and Brandon’s entire group of guys also serve. All those men in uniform made for some sharp looking portraits! Of course, the girls looked amazing too in simple blush cocktail dresses with sparkly accent belts.
Brandon + Kaitlyn chose not to see each other until she walked down the aisle, so we did separate bridal party portraits before the ceremony and then headed to the lawn for the main event. The couple said I do, broke the glass, and then the groomsmen lined the aisle and performed the arch of swords ceremony. The couple walked under the swords as husband and wife and stopped at the end for a kiss… perfectly elegant and beautiful. We ventured out on the golf course grounds for some portraits, stopping first at the absolutely gorgeous Southern Highlands waterfall, and ending out front with a super cool classic Cobra.
The reception room was stunning with ivory linens, blush and peach florals, and sequin accents. The couple danced their first dance to a song played on the guitar by the bride’s father and then cut the cake with a sword from the ceremony. Since the newlyweds are stationed in Colorado, they served Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory caramel apples with the wedding cake. You always gotta bring a little piece of home with you on your wedding day! One of my favorite parts of the reception was the Hora, or chair dance, where the couple was hoisted up in the air as the crowd danced and cheered around them. Brandon + Kaitlyn’s wedding was a truly elegant, classic affair and I couldn’t be happier to have been a part of it. Cheers, you two!
