When my friend Veronica (owner of Nostalgia Resources) asked me about being part of a collaborative metallic desert photoshoot, I jumped at the chance. I love projects that highlight the talent of local vendors and I adore working alongside my fellow Las Vegas portrait photographers McKenzi Taylor and Martina Zandonella. Plus, when Veronica is styling a project, you just need to be part of it… she’s definitely the coolest, most bohemian woman I’ve met in real life. She conceptualized this shoot from start to finish and envisioned contrasting textures, shine, dirt, sparkle and smoke out on the Dry Lake Bed. We found the most gorgeous and naturally talented model Katrina and knew she was the perfect fit. She’s got an incredibly unique look, flows through poses like a boss and can channel so many different vibes and expressions. Cora of Ruby Finch Salon created Katrina’s look with long, loose bohemian waves and dewey, golden skin. For the finishing touch, Veronica and assistant wardrobe stylist Rachel found the perfect selection of metallic boho-urban-chic dresses from Free People.
This shoot was all about expanding our horizons, breaking out of our comfort zones and experimenting with textures, shapes and reflections. As we are all about to get into our first peak season of the year with Spring weddings and portraits, it’s so freeing to photograph something unique for the mere pleasure of creative expression. Some words to set the scene as you view the images below…
