Derek and Tammy held their intimate, family oriented wedding in Spring 2013 at the stunning JW Marriott. This property has gorgeous suites for pre-wedding shots, beautifully landscaped grounds for portraiture and an adorable stone house for a rustic, small reception. From the moment I arrived at the girls’ getting ready room, I knew the day would be full of emotional moments, memories and happy people – my favorite type of wedding! Tammy’s two daughters played a big role in the day, and actually stood with the couple during the ceremony, really signifying the joining of the family and the connection between the couple. I also loved that their ceremony took place in the middle of a circle of chairs – it added to the sense of togetherness that the day embodied, and also made for some awesome camera angles and views that you can’t get during a traditional wedding ceremony setup.

After the ceremony, I took the couple around the grounds for some sunset portraits, and then they made their entrance to the reception. They had beautiful tables set up with simple decorations of candlelit mason jars of various sizes, walkways lined with mason jars, chiffon bar centerpieces that the bride actually made herself, and overhead string lights for the perfect evening mood lighting. Their first dance was at the pretty outside patio, under the ambient, overhead light. Overall, it was a lovely, relaxed wedding day with close friends, perfectly suited for Derek and Tammy’s personalities. Congrats you two and thank you for allowing me to be part of your day!
