Say hello to the coolest eco-super-couple around! Heather & Jose are friends of mine, and I was absolutely delighted when they asked me to be their photographer. They are ardent hikers, mountain climbers, organic produce consumers and friends of the environment. I knew their wedding would be super cool, DIY and earthy-themed, with Heather’s fabulous flair added to it.
Their wedding took place on a beautiful Spring day at the Springs Preserve in Las Vegas, NV – the premiere LEED-certified location for ‘green’ brides and grooms. Some of their other green details: invitations made from plantable seed paper, sustainable paper made from the Lotka bush and eco-paper ribbon from Earth Invitations; ceremony programs and reception menus printed on Elephant PooPoo Paper; bridal jewelry from Green Diva Jewelry; centerpieces and bouquets made from succulents and tillandsia, using no cut flowers at all, which guests took home at the end of the day; little planted succulents as escort cards; homemade pistachio lime wedding cookies for favors, packaged in compostable cellophane; reclaimed wood for the guest book, cake stand and ring pillow; bridesmaids’ foldable flip-flops made from recycled tires so they could take a break from their heels; and even save-the-dates that Heather painted herself to look like vintage national park postcards.
They also had their first dance choreographed by A Perfect Wedding Dance, and it was seriously one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. I’d encourage all brides and grooms to take take these dance lessons together, not only to impress all your wedding guests immensely, but to have a little quality time together every week while practicing. Heather & Jose are a beautiful couple and planning their day with these special details really added their personal touch to the wedding, creating memories that will never be forgotten. I’m so thankful they chose me to photograph their wedding. Heart you guys!
