As I’ve mentioned before on my blog, my mom and extended family are all from a little farming town in the northeastern corner of Nebraska. When I discovered the extensive amount of abandoned homes, cars, barns and schools in the surrounding area, I immediately felt compelled to start photographing them. Not only am I attracted to the architectural quality of these places (the lines, shapes and colors are do dynamic), I also wonder about the lives of the people that once populated them. Children grew up there; there were birthdays, marriages and all sorts of life-altering events and untold stories in these places. Every time I visit family in Nebraska, we make a point to seek out some new places and shoot there. The “Abandoned” project is never-ending and incredibly inspiring for me as an artist.
